What is BassGold and why should I sign up?

BassGold is the only place in the universe where you can do the following:

  • Search thousands of pro and other tournament records
  • See pattern data displayed graphically
  • From there, drill down to the details of each event
  • Upload your own pattern information – tournament finishes or just fishing logs – and do all of the above with it.
  • Eventually, share private insights with your buds.

Technically, BassGold isn't a website, it's a web-delivered application. Basically it's custom-designed, proprietary software that runs on this website. So whether it's pro or local tournament data or just your fishing logs, BassGold's tools are at your disposal.

This means that:

  • What used to be hours of digging through multiple websites to find nuggets of fishing pattern information (where and how the fish were caught) is now better, easier and faster.
  • By seeing pattern information displayed in different ways, you can see things you otherwise may have missed. Trends, details – everyone will take different things from what they see, and what you see might make you more money in a tourney or at least help you catch more or bigger fish.
  • Bottom line: You're smarter on the water. MUCH smarter!

So again: Why is this site "fishing gold?" Because it's the only place where you can take historical and current fishing pattern info and, using a patent-pending web application, compile it in data form. You see pattern data in ways you've never seen before.

So rather than spending many hours hitting multiple websites before you go fishing, here you can quickly see years' worth of data – for a particular water or water-body type – compiled graphically.

That lets you look at pattern info in new, more-insightful ways. Then apply your own analytical thinking to the graphs and charts, and enhance it by drilling down to the tourney details. Even enter your own pattern data and benefit from the same tools.

What's a pattern?

How a fish was caught. At a basic level this is where on the body of water, what habitat, what conditions and what lure.

Can anyone enter pattern information on BassGold?

Yes, as long as they're a member.

Can members enter pattern information for pro tournaments?

Not for high-level finishes. That's done by BassGold staff. Otherwise yes.

How much pattern data is BassGold going to enter into its database?

As much as we can get our hands on. We're constantly inputting more, and updates to the database will be announced on the official BassGold Blog and our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Is BassGold only going to enter pro tour-level finishes?

Nope, we're already entering "lower-tier" events.

Are tournament and non-tournament/fishing log data combined in pattern results?

Only if you want to combine them. You have the option to include or exclude either one when you run a report. If you combine the two types of data, they will be displayed in different colors on the graphs.

Is BassGold only going to be for bass fishing/fishermen?

No. Other species are coming soon.

When will Canadian anglers be allowed to sign up and Canadian lakes included?

How do I enter co-angler data?

For now you don't. That will be coming in phase 2.
